WEDDING - FAQ



How do we reserve our wedding date?

When you decide we are a good match and you’d like me as your photographer, I will send you my booking form. When the booking form is completed, then I will send you the contract. When you sign your contract, I also require the 50% retainer to reserve your date. After the signed contract and a delivered retainer, then you are officially booked in.​



How long have you been doing photography?

I’ve been taking pictures since I was little. But I started shooting professionally in 2021.​



How many weddings have you photographed?

Since June 2024, I have photographed over 25 weddings, ranging in size from 20 to 180 people.​



Do you have liability insurance?

Yes, I do.​



Do you charge a retainer?

Yes, I charge a 50% retainer upon signing your contract. The remainder 50% is due seven days prior to your wedding date.​



Do you charge a Travel or Accommodation fee?

A.If your wedding is within 50-60 km of Edson (e.g., Marlboro, Niton Junction, Peers, Robb), there is no travel fee.


For weddings beyond this area, I charge a flat-rate travel fee based on location:

  • 1-Hour Locations (e.g., Whitecourt, Hinton) – $110
  • 2-Hour Locations (e.g., Edmonton, Jasper, Spruce Grove, Stony Plain) – $220
  • 3-Hour Locations (e.g., Red Deer, Rocky Mountain House) – $330
  • 5-Hour Locations (e.g., Calgary, Banff, Canmore) – $500

For other locations, a custom travel quote will be provided based on distance and accommodation needs.


Accommodation Fee:

I may require accommodation coverage if:

  1. The drive is more than two hours from Edson, AB.
  2. You book Collection 3 or 4.

If both apply, I require accommodation.



Can I get the original images?

No, I do not provide original (RAW) images. This policy maintains brand value and ownership, ensuring that all images reflect my editing style and quality standards. Providing RAW images could lead to unauthorized edits that misrepresent my work.​



Can I choose the images I want?

No, image selection is handled by me. By choosing Nijssen Photography, you trust my expertise to select the best images from your event. However, if you have specific photo requests, please communicate them, and I will make efforts to accommodate your preferences.​



Will you Photoshop my images to hide any unwanted spots, wrinkles, etc.?

Minor edits are made to all images, but I believe that imperfections contribute to individuality and beauty. Specific retouching requests can be accommodated for an additional fee, depending on the number and complexity of edits.​



What does "Download Options" mean?

"Download options" refer to how clients can access and download photos from an online gallery. These options might include:​

  • High-Resolution: Full-sized images suitable for printing.​
  • Web-Resolution: Optimized images for online use, such as social media, with smaller file sizes.​



What is the backup plan if you are unable to shoot my event for an unexpected reason?

In the unlikely event that I cannot attend your event, I will make efforts to find a replacement photographer to shoot your event, with me handling the editing and delivery as usual. If a replacement cannot be found in time, a full refund will be issued.​



Do you provide props for the event?

Currently, I do not provide props or backdrops for events. However, clients are welcome to bring their own to personalize their setup. I am happy to incorporate them into your photos to bring your vision to life. There are plans to offer backdrops and props as part of services in the future. Additionally, there are event rental companies in and around Yellowhead County that can provide props and backdrops to suit your needs.​



Will my photos be posted publicly on your site or social media?

Yes, with your consent, I would love to showcase your images on my website and social media platforms.​




What to Expect


BOOKING: I will send my investment guide and then I will send my booking form for you to fill out. Once I get the booking form back I will send a contract and invoice.


PAYMENT: A 50% retainer is required in order to secure your date. The remaining 50% of your balance is due four days prior to your session. I accept e-transfers and credit cards. I do offer instalment payments, if you'd like to know more please let me know in an email.


DELIVERY: The length of time to deliver a gallery is the result of two things: Busy season (June - October) and I have a full time job (photography is my side hustle). Your completed photos will be delivered via a digital gallery containing all edited photographs 6-10 weeks after your session date.


MY STYLE: My style is to keep everyone looking natural while doing simple touch-ups. I do not do any heavy, unnatural editing. please let me know if you have any requests. For reference, my portfolio can be viewed HERE


CANCELLATION POLICY: Cancellations and reschedules must be made 1 month prior to your date.

All retainers are non-refundable.
