Hi, I am Shyanne

If you’ve ever tried to pronounce Nijssen Photography and found yourself second-guessing it… don’t worry, you’re not alone! It’s pronounced 'Nye-sen' and comes from my maiden name, just with the Dutch spelling. Now that we’ve cleared that up, let’s get to the fun part!

I’m a passionate photographer based in Edson, Alberta, who loves capturing real and joy-filled moments. My journey started as a farm kid sneaking off with my dad’s camera to snap photos of cows, sunrises, wildlife, and whatever caught my eye. Fast forward a few years (okay, maybe more than a few), and what started as a hobby has turned into something pretty amazing.

In 2018, I took the leap and bought my own camera, documenting everything from mountain adventures to family gatherings. Before I knew it, friends started asking me to take their photos, and by 2019, Nijssen Photography was officially born. Now, I get to capture life’s most special moments, whether it’s a wedding day, a branding session, a family or just the little, in-between moments that mean the most.

When I’m not behind the lens, you can find me hanging out with my husband and two fur babies, binging a new series, road-tripping to new places, or diving into my creative side with painting and illustration.
